First Time Pet Ownership and You

July 18, 2018

Are you ready to welcome a new rescue dog into your life and home? Such a decision can be really exciting and fun but at the same time can be a nerve-racking experience if you aren't prepared. You should know that different rescue dogs bc have different behavioral patterns and you have to deal with them accordingly. Dogs that come from foster care bc or who are dogs for adoption bc might all have different or special requirements from you and your family so be prepared.

You should learn the responsibility of pet and dog ownership. Pet ownership isn’t easy and it requires a lot of effort and dedication. One has to learn their responsibilities as an owner and then act accordingly. They have to see if they have time to take care of their pet, have enough finance to fulfill the pet's needs, and more. Dog food can be expensive if you wish to feed your pup the best which involves buying raw food or even preparing what he eats yourself, which means buying AND cooking time is involved in properly feeding your rescue dogs bc.

You should also consider hiring the services of pet professional (think a babysitter for your pet) if you want to prevent the new dog from being lonely and destroying house appliances when you aren't around. Leaving your dog in its crate for 2-3hrs a day on his own is probably a good idea so they don’t develop separation anxiety from you. But any longer than that might be detrimental to your belongings inside so having a pet sitter that is reliable to come check up on your animals is a good idea.

As a proud owner of a rescue dog, it's your responsibility to fulfill their needs, especially providing them with good food, proper shelter, proper and timely care, playing with them, and more. Stock up some necessary dog supplies including dog toys before you go and buy or adopt a pet. Do a bit of research to see what kind of toys and other dog supplies will be right for the kind of dog you wish to own as a pet.

Rescue dogs bc need timely medical care, the most important being timely vaccines, hair fur cleaning and deworming, and dental care for ailments that might cause tooth.   You should be ready to take your rescue dog to the vet in a timely manner once you own one as a pet.

So, while wanting to become a first time pet owner is exciting, it comes with its own sets of rules and responsibilities. Your pet’s quality of life is in your hands and you should be prepared to step up to the challenge.
